Opening Ceremonies
Dear Visitor,
Thank you very much for visiting our website - it is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to the second annual Chicago International Political Simulation (CIPS), to be held February 21-24, 2013 in the heart of downtown Chicago. CIPS is a unique and innovative educational political simulation for university and college students organized by the Model United Nations Development Organization (MUNDO).
We are very proud to host our Second Chicago International Political Simulation. This past February we hosted 150 collegiate delegates who simulated the fall of the Berlin Wall and the year 1989. This being an all historical conference we will be focusing on 1971 in 2013 and can't wait to see what happens. As one of the nation's newest collegiate conferences we are confident in saying that this will be the best conference you attend all year. We have a very diverse and experienced group of staff members who have all staffed our high school conference many years over.
The core of the CIPS philosophy is a deep respect for realism and innovation, with our primary focus being the accurate portrayal of the challenges faced by real-life diplomats and politicians. All committees at CIPS will feature a fully-integrated crisis simulation, forcing delegates to think on their feet and work across multiple committees to solve demanding problems in a variety of forums. The result is an unconventional conference that immerses students in a global context and makes CIPS a truly one-of-a-kind Model UN experience.
This year our conference will feature eight fully integrated and innovative committees all of which (with the exception of the General Assembly) will feature 15 delegates or less, and a historical simulation set in 1971 that will place students in key decision-making roles in the midst of the Cold War. Our unique simulation-driven model gives delegates in all committees the opportunity to make world-shaping decisions in real time, and requires them to think critically beyond the bounds of any one topic to best represent their national interests.
Once again thank you very much for visiting the website of the Chicago International Political Simulation (CIPS). We appreciate your time and attention, and look forward to seeing you in February!
Sincerely,
The Model United Nations Development Organization Board of Directors
